Lazy bum: I don’t have time to run.

“I really want to go running, it’s just that I’m too busy.” Every now and then we get a glance of thoughts about running for the good of our health. But there will always be something that gets in our way: work, watching after the kids, a pint after work etc. However, it’s always the first mile that is troublesome; when you’ve done with putting on your running shoes and step out the door, everything is sorted. Then when is the best time for you to run?

1. Running before breakfast:

Instead of fitting running to your schedule, make it part of your daily life. Exercise is a good way to start your day. Our bodies are built on a secret code, which rewards physical activity. When we exercise, our brain releases endorphins, which are hormones that make us happy.

Running is generally an outdoor sport, meaning air quality matters. It’s obvious the air is cleanest in the morning. One of the most well-known air pollution, which also causes lung cancer, is PM 2.5. Studies show that during most days of a year, the density of PM 2.5 reaches its lowest point at around 6 A.M. By the way, unless you really want to test out your health insurance, avoid exercising outdoors after 19:00.

P.S. Research shows that running with an empty stomach in the morning can burn up 20% more body fat. However, please be advised to skip this if you have hypoglycemia.

2. Running during the rushing hour:

While everyone else is squeezing themselves in the tube like sardines, why not use this time and enjoy the peace away from the crowd? In comparison with running at dawn, jogging in the afternoon is more achievable for the majority of us. This, however, means there is a higher chance we start to incorporate running into our daily routine as we needn’t sacrifice our morning sleep.

Running at sunset has its own perks. Runners tell that during summer time running at the end of a day can help you shake off the day. Although the air quality is not the best between 5 and 7 P.M., it’s acceptable.

Above are the advice of two best times of the day for running. But in general, the best time to run is right now.
